...Home of the Lakers

students with their inventionsIn the tech lab this year learners have been enjoying Makerspace activities. A makerspace is a place where learners can access various tools to explore and use creativity to build. Each month, classroom teachers have the option to bring classes or send small groups to the lab to build and explore using different technologies. Every month has a different theme that allows learners to explore  different materials and tools. The theme for September was engineering a tool to help someone with technology.

Learners created headphone holders, recording booths, cord organizers and more. Learners used the engineer design process to plan out their creation and think about what materials and tools would work best for their creation. Learners used a variety of tools including cardboard, paint, velcro, buttons, our 3-d printer and even a sewing machine. This month in the Makerspace learners will be working on building a haunted world for our dash robots and then programming them to complete different obstacles. Learners are really enjoying the creative freedom and the chance to explore with the awesome tools we have in the lab.
